One week out of each year a city of about 550,000 people is created. We know this city/event as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. During that one week EAA and its Divisions host a total of over 550,000 pilots and aviation enthusiasts along with their families and friends.
With the support of our very capable officers, directors and volunteers (all 550 of them!) the Vintage Aircraft Association accomodates more than 1000 vintage showplanes that are dispersed throughout our 2-mile long vintage aircraft flightline. We also provide a multitude of services and programming during that week.
You can well imagine that creating the infrastructure to support such an endeavor can be quite time consuming as well as costly. As an aside, I might add that no member dues are used to cover Vintage AirVenture expenses. Your member dues cover all of our expenses related to the daily/annual operation of our association.
As your new president, I am emailing you on behalf of the Vintage Aircraft Association and our association’s once-a-year fundraising campaign: Friends of the Red Barn (FORB). The services that we provide for our members and guests during AirVenture are made possible through our FORB fundraising efforts.
A donation from you – no matter how large or small – contributes to keeping the dream of aviation alive. We invite you to join us in supporting that dream through the Friends of the Red Barn.
I thank you in advance for your continued support of the Vintage Aircraft Association as we move this premier organization forward on behalf of our membership and the vintage aircraft movement.
I look forward to seeing you all in July.
Susan Dusenbury, VAA President
PS: If you have already made a 2017 FORB contribution please disregard this letter. We thank you for your dedication and support of the vintage aircraft movement.
